It’s roughly 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport, and is spread across around 500 acres.
That’s bigger than most Hotel Zone resorts, though smaller than some of the sprawling mega-resorts further down the Riviera Maya coast.
Covered walkways connect the buildings, which is a nice if your wedding runs into any rain.
You can enjoy elegant accommodations, world-class dining, unlimited top-shelf spirits, nightly entertainment & so much more.
And it leans heavily toward honeymooners and couples rather than big group travel.
So if you’re bringing a large, high-energy wedding party, know that the overall atmosphere here is quieter than some alternatives.

Here’s my pro tip:
If you book a swim-out suite, ask about buildings 14 and 15 specifically; some guests have noted the pools in that section get more afternoon sun and stay a bit warmer than others.

“My husband and I got married Thanksgiving weekend and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We had a large wedding (80 – 85 guests) and our guests kept raving about their stay. The resort itself is beautiful but the service is everything. We were addressed by name. We had food and drinks brought to our pool area and some staff even memorized our food and drink orders so that we had drinks in our hands before we sat down.

Secrets Maroma Beach is the perfect choice for couples looking for a luxurious & romantic getaway.
The resort is absolutely stunning & the service is amazing.
You can choose from a variety of activities to keep you entertained or just relax by the pool or on the beach.
But, there are always 2 sides to a coin (does anyone use a coin anymore?!)
So, here’s my honest opinion…
What I love:
- Attentive, detail-oriented staff.
- One of the more celebrated beaches on this stretch of coastline.
- A real sense of intimacy and romance, well suited to a smaller wedding.
- The hydrospa is perfect during wedding week.
- Spacious, comfortable rooms across all suite categories.
What I don’t love:
- The overall atmosphere leans heavily towards honeymooners and couples, not large groups or fun festivities.
- 2 restaurants have strict dress codes.
- Seaweed is a seasonal reality of this coastline, even with regular cleaning.

From there, you can take a taxi or shuttle to the resort.
The ride takes about 35 minutes.
