JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa promises to bring amazing dining, beautiful suites, and a stunning destination wedding setting to Costa Rica.
Scheduled to open on September 10, 2026, JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa is one of the most exciting new resorts coming to Costa Rica. It hasn't even opened yet and we're already seeing a lot of interest from couples considering it for their destination wedding. Set along the turquoise coastline of Costa Elena, this all-inclusive resort will offer everything people love about a JW Marriott experience: beautiful accommodations, elevated dining, thoughtful service, and a strong focus on wellness and connection.
The resort has been designed to help guests slow down and enjoy Costa Rica's incredible beauty. Whether you're the wedding couple, guests traveling for a wedding, or simply someone wanting a relaxing getaway, you'll find plenty to love here. Between the beachfront location, 11 restaurants and bars, family-friendly amenities, and wellness experiences, this is the kind of resort where you'll never feel the need to leave!
One of the first things that caught our attention about JW Marriott Costa Elena is that it's an all-suite resort. That's always something we love to see, especially for destination weddings.
The suites have been designed with an airy feel, featuring natural textures, king beds, comfortable sitting areas, and private patios or terraces. The resort will even have family suites, which we can already see being incredibly popular with wedding groups. And then there are the swim-out suites, which you know we love. Those are absolutely the accommodations we'd recommend for the newlyweds.
For guests looking for an upgrade, The Griffin Club has an exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel experience. It's got its own private spaces, dedicated lounges, elevated service, curated culinary experiences, and a few more extra perks.
Dining is clearly a major focus at JW Marriott, and the same extends to Costa Elena. The resort will feature 11 restaurants and bars. That's something wedding groups always appreciate because everyone has different tastes. And because nobody wants to feel like they're eating the same thing every day. You'll find a combination of Costa Rican flavors and international cuisine. You can enjoy international cuisine at Casado, Mercado Central, and the 24-hour JW Market, Asian specialties at Namuyaki, Italian dishes at Luciano, fresh seafood at Puerto Limon, and Japanese cuisine at Boga.
The experiences at JW Marriott Costa Elena will be built around wellness, family time, and enjoying Costa Rica. The Family by JW program looks particularly well thought out, offering nature-inspired activities, outdoor exploration, creative workshops, and interactive experiences for families to spend time together. There's also a dedicated Kids Club where younger guests can enjoy supervised activities. Throughout the property, you and your guests can participate in wellness activities, culinary experiences, and ocean adventures.
The Spa by JW will have a menu that'll include couples massages, facials, body scrubs, body wraps, eye treatments, scalp and hair treatments, manicures, pedicures, therapy baths, foot baths, waxing services, makeup services, men's treatments, and even services for younger guests. Separate men's and women's lounges, steam rooms, hydrotherapy, and mindfulness spaces will add opportunities to unwind. The fitness center is going to be equally impressive. It will feature treadmills, exercise bikes, rowing machines, elliptical machines, strength-training equipment, and other cardiovascular equipment. Around the resort, guests will find an infinity pool, children's pool, swim-up bar, wellness pool, waterslide, pool cabanas, all with lifeguard supervision. We have a feeling the swim-up bar and waterslide are going to be popular with wedding groups. Additional amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, daily turndown service, meeting and event space, a business center, gift shop, laundry services, wake-up calls, and service request assistance. The resort is going to be pet-friendly, allowing one pet per room up to 15 pounds for a non-refundable fee. Accessibility features will include accessible parking, elevators, pool accessibility accommodations, van-accessible parking, and service animal accommodations.
Weddings at JW Marriott Costa Elena center around their JW Wedding Collection. The signature offering of this is their Alice Eternal Love. It serves as the “main wedding package” and includes everything from the ceremony and cocktail hour to the reception, wedding-night turndown service, and a romantic breakfast the following morning. And for couples planning something more intimate, the resort also offers an elopement package. Beyond the wedding day itself, you can opt for additional experiences like Alice's Table Rehearsal Dinner, Alice Eternal Love Getting Ready Experience, and even a thoughtful Honeymoon Collection. To give you an idea, here's how much the add-ons cost:
Alice's Table Rehearsal Dinner starts at $2,000.
Alice Eternal Love Getting Ready Experience starts at $800 for one party or $1,400 for both parties.
Honeymoon Collection starts at $2,500.
