If you want, you can legally get married in your home country and have a beautiful symbolic ceremony in Grenada. But if you want to go the legal way, here’s what’s required:
Residency period: 72 hours (three days, including weekends/holidays) prior to applying for a license, plus 1-3 days for processing. Express weddings require 48 hours.
Original passports and state-issued birth certificates of the couple.
Notarized copies of all court-certified divorce decrees with court’s stamp and judge’s signature (if applicable).
Notarized copy of a former spouse’s death certificate and related marriage certificate (if applicable).
Notarized copy of legal name change or adoption documents (if applicable).
Sworn affidavit/letter (from clergy, lawyer, registry, or notary) confirming neither party was previously married. Must be on letterhead with notarization stamps/seals.
Couples must hand-carry all original, state-issued or court-certified documents with embossed seals/stamps and original ink signatures.
Any documents not in English must include a certified translation.
Grenada enjoys warm, tropical weather year-round, but the dry season (December to May) offers sunnier, more reliable conditions for outdoor ceremonies.
Same-sex relationships are not legally recognized here, and remain criminalized. For a destination wedding, we recommend choosing a country that offers stronger legal protections and recognition for LGBTQ couples.
