Hotel Riu Guanacaste's a 5-star, beachfront resort set along Costa Rica's Pacific coast. With 24-hour all-inclusive service, it makes group stays easy. The resort has 1,041 newly renovated rooms and suites, along with swimming pools, a swim-up bar, a spa, nightclub, tennis court, gym, and Splash Water World water park. There's also a RIU Party several times a week, so you and your wedding guests can keep the celebrations going well beyond the reception.

We've found Hotel Riu Guanacaste convenient for couples who want their guests to have plenty to do without leaving the resort. There's the beautiful beachfront setting, then there's daily activities for adults and children, water sports, live entertainment, and dining options to keep everyone happy.

Accommodations

Hotel Riu Guanacaste has standard double rooms, deluxe rooms, swim-up rooms, superior family rooms, Friends & Family rooms, and 2-bedroom family suites. Room sizes and layouts vary, giving wedding groups options when booking accommodations for couples, families and groups of friends.

For wedding guests, we recommend the Friends & Family Room. It comes with 2 double beds, a sofa bed, a safe, minibar, liquor dispenser, coffee maker and iron. Each room also has a balcony or terrace. Other in-room amenities include hairdryer, air conditioning and ceiling fan.

For newlyweds, we recommend the Suite with Sea View. It gives the couple more room to settle in after the wedding, with a king-size bed, lounge area with sofa, dressing room, whirlpool bath, and a balcony or terrace overlooking the sea. The suite also includes all the in-suite amenities mentioned above.

Dining & Drinks

Food is a big part of the all-inclusive experience here, with 7 themed restaurants serving everything from Asian and Italian dishes to Mexican favourites, international buffets and steakhouse classics. Liberia is the main buffet restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with live cooking stations, desserts and themed nights. For some delicious vegetarian and gluten-free options, you can head to Papagayo for lunch. Furama's the place to be for Asian flavours, with Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Thai dishes. And for some lipsmacking Mexican dishes, head over to Agave.

Drinks are covered around the clock too. The Santa Cruz and Guaro swim-up bars serve soft drinks, juices and cocktails, while the Filadelfia lobby bar and Pura Vida lounge bar are awesome places to grab a drink with your wedding gang, with the latter also featuring a stage for live shows and entertainment. There's even Candy, an ice cream parlour for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Activities & Entertainment

There's plenty happening at the resort, so your guests will not get bored between events. Paddle surfing, kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing and beach volleyball are just some of the many activities. The Splash Water World water park has water slides designed for different ages. Younger guests have their own space at RIULand, which includes a paddling pool, a pool with slides, and a playground with swings. During the day, adults can join supervised activities led by the resort's entertainment team, while children have their own dedicated programme.

For fitness, the resort has a well-equipped gym and offers RIU Fit guided classes. Sports shoes are compulsory when using the gym. There's also a spa and wellness centre offering beauty treatments, massages, hairdressing services and a jacuzzi. And for evenings, the nightclub, live shows and RIU Party events bring plenty of energy to the resort. RIU Party takes place several times a week, with DJs, music, dancing, cocktails, refreshments and a poolside stage with a swim-up bar and snack bar.
