What happens if the wedding resort overbooks or cancels?

In reality, overbooking rarely affects wedding groups—especially when bookings are made through a room block with Paradise. While resorts may occasionally overbook standard reservations, wedding groups are handled differently.

From experience, Paradise has not seen cases where wedding guests arrive and are turned away due to overbooking.

Here’s why:

  • Wedding groups are tied to a confirmed event

  • All guests are linked under one booking reference

  • Resorts prioritize keeping wedding guests on-site

In general travel scenarios, if a resort is overbooked, they may relocate guests to:

  • A sister property within the same brand

  • A nearby comparable resort

However, this typically applies to:

  • Individual bookings

  • Third-party reservations (e.g., online travel sites)

Not wedding groups.

Key Takeaway:
Wedding groups booked through a room block are prioritized—overbooking issues almost never affect them.
