It took Van all those summers to work up his courage to ask Kathryn out! Their engagement made it a full circle moment, with Van surprising his soon-to-be fiancé with a proposal on the same dock where they met for the very first time, yes, at that camp.
After not being able to agree on a location in the US, Mexico became the top pick for personal reasons, “I spent eight years of my childhood in Oaxaca, Mexico and have a soft spot for the country,” Kathryn reveals. Kathryn and Van decided to have the wedding indoors, mostly for the beautiful backdrop that showcased the outdoor water fountains. Plus, the cool AC was a bonus! Kathryn describes the wedding day as ‘absolutely perfect’, with little party favours including Thai fortune cookies, a delicious Mexican food buffet, and music so good that guests forgot to eat the cake!
